Mission

The Office of Film & Television Development is the public agency within the state of Louisiana's Department of Economic Development that serves as an informational clearinghouse and provides technical assistance to filmmakers and business entities engaged in film and television production in the state. 

The primary objective of the Office of Film & Television Development is to encourage development in Louisiana of a strong capital base for motion picture and television productions, in order to achieve a more independent, self-supporting industry.

Immediate objectives are to:

  • Attract private investment for the production of motion pictures and television programs;
  • Develop a tax infrastructure which encourages private investment;
  • Encourage increased employment opportunities within this sector and increased competition with other states;
  • Encourage new education curricula in order to provide a labor force trained in all aspects of film production.

The Office of Film & Television Development supports production companies by identifying the key economic, social and cultural benefits of basing film and television projects in the state. Our goal is to make your job easy and to make accessible the many venues and values Louisiana has to offer.

The mission of the Office of Film & Television Development is to promote film and television production in the State of Louisiana and to help filmmakers optimize their production experience in the state. This will help to enhance the local economy through increased employment and tax revenues as well as to ensure an accurate portrayal of Louisiana.
